Ladies have always played an important part in the running of the Kirra SLSC. While the membership of the Committee has changed over the years this Committee has always been to the fore donating funds to the Club, purchasing furniture, providing trophies and assisting with the organization of Kirra's social activities. Committee Members were mothers or wives of members. Two of the hardest workers over many years were Mrs Bella Klingner and Mrs Dot Kopittke. Often the ladies obtained surf qualifications such as Resuscitation and First Aid Certificates. In the early 1980's Surf Life Saving Australia introduced ladies to the Bronze Medallion and patrols. Kirra included ladies on Patrols in 1984. Our first female Bronze holder was Skye Bond. Ladies have been very successful as Patrol Members and Management Committee Members. Keep up the good work girls. |
