The tireless efforts of Kirra's Scott Byrnes were acknowledged on 8th June 2009 by being awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for 'service to surf lifesaving through a range of training and administrative roles'. Scott's inclusion on the 2009 Queen's Birthday Honours List is a fitting honour for his commitment to the Life Saving movement and should serve as an inspiration to all at Kirra. Congratulations Scott! |

A huge congratulations to Arch Nicholson on gaining the Presidents Medal Award at the recent State Titles at Kawana. Arch has been a active member for the majority of his life, his dedication to the club and in particular competion and the younger members existence within the club is next to nothing.

The two concerts arranged by the Gold Coast City Council and held at Kirra in February and March 2009 reminded one of the New Year’s concerts held by the Kirra Club for over a decade. While Kirra had sand the concerts were held on the sand in front of the clubhouse. When Kirra had no sand the concerts were held on the Coolangatta side of Kirra Hill. |
